Old School Graffiti

I found these scrupulously carved ‘tags’ in Shrewsbury Library, previously being Shrewsbury School. These wooden panels run around the entirety of the large classroom upstairs, many dating from the end of the 18th century. The school building, with architectural features going back to the 1560s, received extensive restoration and renovation work in the conversion to a public library. Fortunately, these delightful and personal reminders of the building’s history still remain.
